Long-term volunteering is the perfect opportunity for those who are looking for a meaningful change in their lives. We need highly motivated volunteers with team spirit who can volunteer in Rio de Janeiro and join our humanitarian cause.

If you want to join our organization, you can either fill existing available positions or develop your own project.

To develop your own project you will need to commit to a period of over six months. First, participate in an existing program to get to know each other better and after three months, once you are feeling more comfortable with our team you will have the opportunity to develop your own program.

Complementary Education Programme Assistant

Complementary Education Programme Assistant

Purpose: Volunteer in Rio de Janeiro to teach underprivileged children from the community of Cantagalo and Pavão-Pavãozinho participating in our programme. We teach utilizing the principles of Positive Discipline in a loving and caring way. Our goal is to help these children develop self-control and problem-solving skills as well as their academic capabilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Co-plan all lessons and prepare the classroom
  • Assist with classroom management
  • Teach a subject or creative activity of your interest
  • Guide physical and creative activities

Reports to: Complementary Education Programme Coordinator.

Length of Appointment: The position of the Complementary Education Assistant is assigned for a period of four to six months with 3-4 working days a week. After four months, the Complementary Education Programme Assistant may be reappointed for another four to six months at the discretion of the Coordinator.

Time Commitment: 3 to 4 days per week (Monday to Thursday) for 6 hours (11 a.m. to 5 p.m.), for a minimum of four months.

Qualifications:

  • Intermediate level of Portuguese
  • Experience in teaching/ degree in Education is preferred
  • Experience in teaching underprivileged children is preferred
  • ESL or native English speaker is preferred

Support: Training for this position will be provided (Positive Discipline). In addition, the Coordinator will be available for questions and assistance.

English Teacher

Purpose: Volunteer to help underprivileged children in Rio de Janeiro from Cantagalo and Pavã-Pavãozinho Comunities, teaching English to them.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Helping to prepare the classes
  • Teach classes
  • Fill evaluation forms

Reports to: Program Coordinator

Length of Appointment: The position of english teacher for the english program is assigned for a period of 6 (six) months, because this is the module duration.

Time Commitment: Once a week, at fridays from 2pm to 5 pm.

Qualifications: 

  • Intermediary or advance English Level
  • Intermediary or advanced Portuguêse Level
  • Preferably experience in teaching underprivileged children
  • Preferably experience in teaching/ degree in Education

 

Office Volunteers

Office Volunteers

Purpose: Volunteer in Rio de Janeiro to support the humanitarian cause of Mais Caminhos thus contributing in a loving and caring way to the underprivileged children in our programmes from the communities of Pavão/Pavãozinho and Cantagalo. Our goal is to help these children develop self-control and problem-solving skills as well as their academic capabilities.

Job Description: The Social Activity Coordinator will be responsible for developing and executing Mais Caminhos social activities. This dynamic position focuses on community engagement, promoting short-term volunteerism, and student/volunteer activities.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop opportunities and activities to contribute to the community
Build a valuable network in the community
Organise activities that enable short-term volunteering work
Proactively identify opportunities to promote short-term volunteer work in the communities of Zona Sul through engagement with communities, networks, groups etc.
Organise and coordinate volunteer and students outreach activities and attendance at community events
Coordinate the supervision of volunteers providing skills-development, motivation, and performance feedback

Reports to: Mais Caminhos Manager.
